Tender Loving Compost Benefit:
Sandy soil is usually low in organic matter and does not retain moisture very well. To increase the amount of organic matter in the this type of soil we recommend the addition of 2" of compost in the fall or during the winter. To add compost during the spring or summer the compost must be worked into the soil. TLC Vermicompost that has been digested by worms will not 'burn' plants and can be added directly to the soil around plants durning the spring or summer months.
Compost or Vermicompost will also help sandy soil will retain moisture better.
