Organic matter is comprised of carbon and nitrogen. Having a good carbon to nitrogen ratio in your organic matter is important. Too much carbon, like woody materials or leaves, can actually “rob” your soil of nitrogen as it tries to balance the carbon to nitrogen ratio on it’s own. Too much nitrogen, like from fresh manure, can also throw the balance off. Sometimes resulting in a “burning” of your plants.
Your soil is a living element of its own, maintaining a favorable balance of carbon and nitrogen, every year, can make your garden what you want it to be. Our compost provides an exceptionally favorable C:N ratio for your soil.
